Guidelines for Competing Bands - Garage Rumble 2007

Welcome Bands! Please review this page for competition guidelines.

Important: NYS law requires us to have parental consent for your presence in a nightclub. This does not apply for band members 18 yrs.old +. You may download the form here. Please have it signed by the parent or guardian of each band member and bring it with you the day of the show when you register.

  • Bands must register at the hospitality table to get their laminates, band gift bags, and to submit their parental consent forms (word doc) or (pdf) at least one hour before their scheduled performance.
  • Thirty minutes before you are to perform, hospitality will take you backstage -- to tune and prepare for your performance, etc.
  • We will provide snack foods and bottled water for performers.
  • We will provide the sound system and lighting for your performance including a professional crew. We will have back line equipment (amps, drums and accessories, see below) available for you. Bands are encouraged to use the equipment donated by our sponsors. Please visit our sponsorship page for more info.
  • Each band will receive a gift bag including swag provided by our very awesome sponsors

Guidelines for competing bands for our annual Garage Rumble

1. Please prepare three songs for a 15 minute set, including at least one original composition. Covers are acceptable, however bands will be judged on their creative interpretation and not their ability to sound exactly like the recording of the chosen cover.


2. Please email a stage plot and input list including each member's name by midnight, November 6th, 2007


3. Please email a typed set list including song titles, author(s) and lyrics of any original material for the judges by midnight, November 8th, 2007

4. If you have any changes to your original bio sent with your submission, lease email a revised typed band bio by midnight, November 6th, 2007

Bands will be judged on the overall performance of the day including the following

  • Musicianship
  • Songwriting and Arrangement
  • Originality
  • Stage performance and charisma
  • Professionalism
  • Appearance

Musicians be prepared

  • Bring your instruments except drums (see below).
  • Guitar and bass players have picks and new strings that you have stretched out a bit, and be in tune, please bring any effects boxes that you may need and cables.
  • Drummers, bring your own throne and snare drum and cymbals, we will provide stands for cymbals and a basic kit and have extra sticks, brushes etc on hand.
  • Keyboardists, please bring your keyboard and stand.

 

Please... label all gear (cables, boxes, cases, thrones etc.)with your band name and contact info.
